Margarita Cupcake


To make a boozy margarita cup cake from a white box mix substitute as follows:

In place of 1 cup of water:


  • 6 oz key lime juice
  • 2oz tequila
  • 1oz triple sec
  • Add the zest of one lime
  • Few drops green food color



Tequila lime butter cream


  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 ¾ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 11/2 tablespoons tequila
  • ½ tablespoon triple sec
  • Pinch of salt




  1.  PREHEAT oven to 350°F
  2.  Line your cupcake pan with papers. 
  3.  Mix: cake mix, key lime juice, tequila, triple sec, lime zest and eggs in a large bowl at low speed until moistened (about 30 seconds). BEAT at medium speed for 2 minutes. POUR batter in muffin pan and bake immediately. 
  4. BAKE following chart on your cake mix box. Cupcakes are done when toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. 
  5. COOL in pan on wire rack for 15 minutes. 
  6. Cool completely before frosting
