Candy Clay / Modeling Chocolate
Modeling clay (candy clay) can be made with the milk, dark, white, peanut butter, and even the color Merckens candy coatings. Cake decorator’s and candy makers use candy clay for decorating their cakes, cupcakes and candies. Children love to play with the candy clay and make edible pieces of clay art.
- 1 Pound Confectionery Coatings
- 3 oz. light corn syrup
- Melt Candy in microwave; add corn syrup and stir till blended. Turn out mixture onto silicone parchment paper and let set at room temperature to dry. Wrap in plastic wrap or plastic storage bag and store at room temperature until next day after it has had a chance to harden.
- Knead a small portion at a time until softened. If candy clay gets too soft, set aside at room temperature or refrigerate for a short time. When rolling out, sprinkle work surface with cornstarch or cocoa (for chocolate clay) to prevent sticking. Can be rolled to approximately 1/8 in. thick.
